Thursday Double...

Hereford 14:40 - City Affair
2m 3f, Class 4 Beginners' Chase - Good, Good to Soft in places

An interesting little heat that The Analyst hopes can go the way of Tim Vaughan's runner. Second last time out behind the talented Desert Quest, City Affair jumped and travelled beautifully throughout and was making good headway towards the end of the race until not quickening on the run in. Previous experience counts for a great deal in these types of races so I take the selection to get the better of Oh Crick from the powerful Alan King yard this time around.

3RD 5/2

Redcar 16:30 - Tajweed

1m 2f, Class 4 Handicap - Soft

Eany meany miny mo, which Mark Johnston horse will go past the post first! Well that was rubbish, it didn't rhyme but hey, who cares as long as the Hamdam Al Maktoum colours are in front. With two runs under his belt this spring the son of Pivotal appears to be improving nicely. A typical gutsy performance is what you come to expect from the trainers runners and he didn't disappoint last time out getting back up in the final furlong to score by 3l. On jockey bookings you would have to say that Tajweed is the second string, but we'll take our chance today.

WON 6/5F

Stat Attack...

April 08 was a bumper month and the best in The Analyst's short history so far!!

That's a massive 41.3% Strike Rate!!

Hope you were on...!!

If you were and had just £1 on each of our bets you would have made a return of £80.24!!
Imagine if you had £10 on each free tip... well you do the maths!!

Hope you are continuing to enjoy reading the site, keep your comments coming & lets hope this rich vein of form continues...

Yours,

The Analyst

Wednesday Double...

Ascot 14:45 - Rosaleen
1m, Class 3 Fillies Stakes - Good

Brian Meehan saddles his tough filly Rosaleen, who has been crying out for today's step up in trip. Un-lucky last time out when meeting traffic problems in the Nell Gwyn Stakes, everything looks in her favour to run a massive race today. The Michael Jarvis trained, Makaaseb may give the selection most to do, but without the benefit of a run and with the recent wet weather softening the firm ground she is worth taking on, first time out.
WON 15/8f

Grabbing the early 11/4 The Analyst was glad to see our selection stay on best of all to score by a cosy 3/4l margin. A typically stylish Dettori ride meant Rosaleen won going away from a strung out field in an impressive performance.

Worcester 16:50 - Circus of Dreams
2m, Class 6 Maiden NH Flat Race - Good to Soft

Oliver Sherwood is a trainer to follow at present and he sends out the improving Circus of Dreams in Div 1 of the NH Flat Race. This looks a weak contest that wont take much winning. Formerly a decent 2ND behind the talented Kingston Lane, a repeat of that performance will be good enough to take the spoils today.
3RD 2/1

After travelling well for the most part, the conditions and a well handicapped Nigel Twiston-Davies runner proved just to strong for our selection as he tired up and finished a well held third. Confirming that the last race on the card was abandoned tells you all you need to know about the conditions so keep an eye out for this one, on better ground! British Summer time anyone?

28 Apr 2008

Tuesday Double...

Wincanton 15:20 - Kahrayn
2m 6f, Class 4 Maiden Hurdle - Good to Soft

Alan King's lightly raced chestnut gelding seems to be slowly coming to hand. A last time out 3rd to Lease Lend is useful form as that horse (who The Analyst tipped up at 20/1) fell two out in a class 2 handicap brush hurdle final at Haydock with the race at his mercy! The selection was staying on nicely over 2m 3f that day and with 3 furlongs extra today I expect further improvement for the step up in trip.
NR

Wincanton 16:50 - Tosula
2m 5f, Class 4 Handicap Chase - Good to Soft

The first thing that strikes The Analyst is the weight that the selection is receiving from what appears to be exposed types. Tosula was 2nd last time out over C&D and in fact has run very consistently all season. With useful jockey Felix De Giles claiming 5lbs the mare has an even more attractive racing weight so fingers crossed this has the desired affect.

Monday Double...

Yarmouth 15:30 - Royal Rock
6f, Class 2 Handicap - Good to Firm

A good record fresh and said to have strengthened nicely over the winter, Royal Rock is taken to give Charlie Wall his first winner of the season. Progressive last season this gelding was last seen finishing a close up 6Th in a hot Newmarket race. Previous impressive victories at Windsor and Kempton shows George Baker's mount (2 from 2 on horse) to be a versatile type that will improve again this year. The main danger is the Jamie Spencer ridden Cape, whom the jockey has a 100% strike rate on. However he has a little bit to find on the clock with our selection and may be un-suited by the faster ground.
WON 4/1

An impressive performance from the talented Royal Rock, as he ran on to win by a cosy 1/2l. His task was made easier by the exclusion of Cape from the field, but with a 1m 11.47s 6f dash, P Howlings mare would have struggled to live with this gelding to follow.

Windsor 18:10 - Dubai Petal
1m 3f, Class 5 3yo Handicap - Good to Firm

Dubai Petal looks to have an outstanding chance of getting off the mark this season at just the third time of asking. Having improved with each outing the Ryan Moore ridden filly looks to have everything in her favour and will no doubt be suited by the step up in trip, firmer ground and most definitely the drop in class.
WON 5/4F

Thanks to the early prices on BET365, The Analyst grabbed a healthy 13/8 about the Ryan Moore ridden Dubai Petal. Full credit must go the jockey, as his mare dropped anchor early on and had to come from last to first under a powerful ride. Getting every yard of the trip, this quirky looking mare got her head in-front on the line to win by a neck!!

Back to Back doubles for the first time for the Analyst... Look at the £1 level stake return now!!

DOUBLE WON 13/1

25 Apr 2008

Friday Double...

Punchestown 16:20 - Punjabi
2m, Class Accbank Champion Hurdle - Yielding

Nicky Henderson's Punjabi has run big races in each of his three starts this year and non-more so than in the "Champion" Hurdle at Cheltenham when he finished a close up third to Katchit. He deserves to win a race this campaign and this looks the ideal opportunity. Sublimity heads the betting but after two lack luster races this year it means there are question marks over his fitness and ability to finish of races in which he has travelled so well. The Rain has come against Harchibald and I expect Barry Geraghty to get a tune out of our selection and out battle his rivals.

WON 2/1

The race went exactly as the script above, with our selection Punjabi out-battling the slightly frustrating Sublimity. The tough gelding was slightly awkward at the last but still ran on to win by a comfortable 3l's.

Chepstow 19:55 - Royal Rationale
2m, Class 5 Maiden Hurdle - Good, Good to Soft in Places

With Summer jumping back, it means we have a long weight to hopefully land today's double. However with David Pipe and Tom Scudamore sticking around at the Welsh course until the last race of the night, that is encouragement enough for me and a repeat of Royal Rationale's last run at Newbury will be easily good enough to land this.
WON EVENS

A comfortable win on the bridal for David Pipes Royal Rationale meant that it was worth the wait to land the double. The addition of blinkers seemed to have worked a treat and this gelding looks well handicapped to follow up in similar event soon.

DOUBLE WON 5/1

24 Apr 2008

Thursday Double...

Punchestown 15:40 - J'y Vole
2m, Class 1 Novices' Chase - Yielding

Willie Mullins saddles the exciting novice J'y Vole who looks weighted to run a big race in a great look heat. Receiving weight all around, our selection is taken to improve for the return to 2m and can reverse the form with the consistent Thyne Again after a 7l beating at Naas last time out. The latter has since had a tough race at Cheltenham, and looks as though he is ideally suited by further.
3rd 3/1f

The joint tactics of both J'y Vole and Perce Rock, basically put pay to both their chances in what was a fiercely contested 2m chase. Taking each other on for the lead they effectively cut their own throats setting up the race for the held up Big Zeb who stayed on best of all. Travelling well for the most part our selection looked as though he would run away from the field at one point, however the early excursions meant he eventually went down by 7l's.

Perth 17:05 - Pacha D'Oudairies
2m 4f, Class 3 Handicap Hurdle - Good, Good to Soft In Places

Travelling sweetly until being brought down 4 out just 5 days ago, Paul Nicholl's seeks quick compensation for his talented gelding. Looking as though he was running a massive race in a tougher looking class 2, the drop in grade and 1 furlong in trip just look like further positives and more reason to lump on! 3/1 on BET365 at the moment, Pacha D'Oudairies is already carrying The Analysts money.
2nd 5/2f

Travelling much better this time round, Pacha D'Oudairies can offer no excuses and was just beaten by a slightly better handicapped horse. Slightly hanging right on the run-in, he eventually went down by 3 3/4l's to the Venetia Williams trained De Blanc.

Holiday...

The Analyst is currently on holiday... he will be back in one week!

13 Apr 2008

Monday Double...

Windsor 16:00 - Ocean Blaze
5f, Class 4 Handicap - Good, Good to Soft in Places

Rod Millman saddles the consistent Ocean Blaze in a competitive 5f dash at Windsor today. Coming into her own at the end of last season, the trainer expects another good year from his tough 4 year old filly, who will continue to ply her trade in such handicaps. A repeat of his decent 2nd over C&D last June will see her very hard to beat today and she is taken to get the better of the hatrick seeking After The Show, who may just find this drop back to the minimum trip on the sharp side.
UP 7/1

Newcastle 16:40 - Honour's Dream
2m, Class 4 Handicap Hurdle - Heavy, Soft in Places

Top weight in a handicap means you are quite simply the best horse in the race. However this is a stat that is often overlooked in the attempt to find the winner. Sometimes it's easier to look at the quality of the race and how much winning it will actually take? The answer for the 16:40 is "not much". Tom George sends out Honour's Dream under the "textbook" Paddy Brennan. A return to 2m in testing ground looks ideal, and I expect our selection to lead from pillar to post and not even see another animal.
2ND 5/2

What a fortnight for The Analyst...

Since Sat 28th March the Analyst has backed 15 winners at an impressive strike rate of 38%!!

A £1 level stake would have seen you make a whopping £53.87 return! Including a 33/1 double!!

Since our opening day bet on the 14th Jan 08, we have backed 51 winners at a strike rate of 26% and have a £1 level stake return of + £22.92!!

With the "hit count" steadily climbing I just like to say a quick thank you for logging on and reading the daily tips! Remember we like you reading your comments to, so don't be shy in sending them in!

Saturday Double...

Kempton 14:45 - Jazz Jam
1m, Class 1 Fillies Listed Race - Standard

Looks a very interesting runner for the Paul Cole yard who are going great guns at present. Just touched off in a similar race back in November at Newmarket behind Classic Legend who is herself a potential smart filly, the selection has proven form over the distance which a lot of the field have yet to show.
WON 5/1

Cool as a cucumber, the ever youthful Richard Quinn, produced a great ride to land the first leg of Saturdays double. Chasing the leaders three out, Jazz Jam managed to make the most of an opening and surged clear to win by a fairly cosy 1/2l.

Doncaster 15:35 - Medicine Path
1m, Class 1 Listed Race - Soft

Jockey Jamie Spencer has been talking very bullishly about this colt in recent times and even goes as far to say that it won't be long before he is winning group races! A look back at the form shows a 3 1/4l 3rd to Authorized, the derby winner back in 2007. With a step up in class for fellow stable mate Don't Panic who did look impressive in the Spring Mile I don't see a lot else in the field with as much scope as The Selection.
WON 9/2

A classy performance from a classy colt. Given a typically patient Jamie Spencer ride, Medicine Path ran on to win by a length. Showing he can now handle all types of ground, this is a colt to keep an eye and back Jamie's bullish judgement that he might well be good enough to take group races this year.

DOUBLE WON 33/1

11 Apr 2008

Friday Double...

Ascot 15:30 - Doubly Guest E/W
2m, Class 2 Novices' Handicap Hurdle - Good

Nicky Henderson's filly has some smart form to her name over the obstacles this season with the likes of Binocular albeit an 18l 4Th at Kempton and Whiteoak who she also came 4Th to at Ascot. Well we all know what those two have achieved this season don't we! A winner last time out, that should have been a confidence booster and as long as she settles early on in the race The Analyst expects a bold showing.

UP 7/1

Having been the long time leader, Doubly Guest, pulled doubly hard and never really settled in to a rhythm today. This inability to relax meant that although he was bang in contention jumping the 2ND last, he could find no extra and missed out on a place by 7 3/4l's.

Ascot 16:40 - Briery Fox E/W
3m, Class 2 Handicap Chase - Good

What a great idea these veterans races are. Half decent prize money and the chance to compete amongst your own age group. The selection ran a blinder last time out at Newbury and The Analyst does have a slight soft spot for this animal. On the whole he jumps soundly and I feel the slight drop in distance is in his favour. The only negative I can see is the ground. He probably prefers a tiny bit of cut, but I can still see Henry Daly's charge running a good one and at least grabbing a place.
2ND 5/1

Jumping is the name of this game, and when the last fence was dolled off and left a very long run-in that essentially put pay to Briery Fox's chance. Jumping better than all his rivals, sources close to The Analyst felt sure we would have been celebrating another winner if it weren't for the change of course. As its was we managed to get our money back in the E/W stakes.

10 Apr 2008

Thursday Double...

Folkestone 15:15 - Andronikos
6f, Class 4 Handicap - Good to Soft

Andronikos, represents the red hot Paul Cole and champion jockey in waiting Ryan Moore in todays 15:15 at Folkestone. The trainer has a current strike rate of 45% in the last 14 days and this Chestnut looks his best chance of adding to that statistic today. A drop in class and return to the turf, make this an ideal opportunity for our selection to strike.
4th

Unfotunately strike he didn't! Was never really on terms with the leaders held up at the back and made just steady headway over the last two furlongs or so. Chose the wrong Cole runner!

Towcester 16:50 - Realism
2m, Class 4 Novices' Hurdle - Good, Good to Soft in Places

The Mick Easterby trained Realism, looks to build on a solid victory last time out hopefully land today's double. A 17 length winning margin at Newcastle last time was as impressive as it sounds. A repeat of that performance when firmly beating the consistent Diamond Frontier will be good enough to take todays spoils.
4th

A disapointing show from the Easterby runner who at one point looked as though he might have a say in the matter. However didn't pick up with two to jump and faded badly into 4th.

9 Apr 2008

Wednesday Double...

Towcester 16:00 – Sole Agent
2m 3f, Class 4 Novices’ Chase – Good to Soft

Sole Agent, represents the best form in what looks a great opportunity for him to notch another season win. Taking on the inconsistent Sasso who only ever seems to do his winning on firm ground, Gary Moore’s gelding would have won last time if he hadn’t run into the classy Cleymor House and looks booked to get compensation today.
PU 5/2

Never going a yard, this was a run to forget for Sole Agent. Never travelling or jumping Jamie Moore was up against it as the market principals failed to land a blow in poor race. Making a mistake at the 8th, the gelding was pulled up before completing the trip.

Bath 16:40 – Digital
5f, Class 5 Handicap – Good, Good to Soft

You can’t buy experience… Well you can actually and the price at present is around 3/1! Digital is not getting any younger, however the consistent 11 year old will show the new dogs old tricks and a clean pair of hoofs in this afternoon’s 5f dash. Running for the in-form Mick Channon, and the more than able Tom O’Brien (claiming 7lb) Digital looks the one to be on and this is definitely the time to catch him.
WON 9/2

2 1/2l's is a huge winning margin in a 5f dash, but such was the authority of Digitals performance he belied his market position and claimed another victory in an illustrious career. Bustled along by Tom O'Brien, he soon asserted himself to draw clear of the field and land a touch at an impressive 9/2.

7 Apr 2008

Tuesday Double...

Sedgefield 14:20 - Theatre Belle
2m 4f, Class 4 Novices' Hurdle - Good to Soft

An impressive C&D winner last time out, Theatre Belle looks set to run another big race in ideal conditions. Having formed a brilliant relationship with his conditional jockey, our selection receives a massive 13lb's from the AP McCoy ridden Riguez Dancer. This is the Champs only ride of the day however with the trip an unkown quantity and this being the 3rd outing in the last 16 days (finished 2nd on the flat last time out) he is worth taking in at very skinny odds.
WON 4/1

A run away victory by The Analyst’s first selection meant we had good money in the bank, but an anxious wait until the evening meet at Fairyhouse to see if we could land the double. Noble Future won by a very easy 9l’s having traveled superbly and quickened nicely after the last. Once again The Analyst logged onto BET365 @ 10:30 and bagged the early bird 5/1. Remember if you take any early price with BET365 and the horse goes off at bigger SP, you get that price! So could we bag a double…?

Fairyhouse 18:40 - Lugato
2m 2f, Handicap Hurdle - Yielding

Ruby Walsh has a good looking book of rides tonight, but the pick is definately the german bread Lugato. 2nd last time out behind the Aiden McGuinness trained Almanyan was a superb effort and the form was certainly franked by the winner who beat 21 rivals next time out at the Punchestown Festival. With the step up to 2m 2f, sure to be in his favour I expect Ruby Walsh to ride yet another winner.
2ND 5/2

No, Not Quite was the answer... A typical race in Ireland where they go an absolute crawl and then quicken at the end. With two to jump it looked as though our selection was going to pick up the evential winner but he found more. Ruby tried to get an extra tune towards the end and Lugato did stay on but it was all too late.

6 Apr 2008

Monday Double...

Plumpton 14:20 - Noble Future
2m, Class 5 Maiden Hurdle - Soft, Good to Soft In Places

Noble Future represents the best connections in what looks a very weak race that won't take a lot of winning. A reproduction of the decent form shown last time out behind The Analyst tipped, Your Amount will be be more than enough to take the spoils today. Sam Thomas gets the leg up on what should be one of his more straight forward tasks of the 07/08 national hunt season.
3RD 11/8F

Travelling well for the most part, Noble Future had every chance of losing his maiden tag today however he doesnt look the most trust worthy of beasts and despite Sam Thomas's best efforts he was more interested in looking around rather than getting his head in front. Having said that he was only beaten just over a length and may in time benefit from some kind of head gear.

Plumpton 16:50 - Present M'lord
3m 2f, Class 4 Handicap Chase - Good to Soft

Present M'lord is a confident selection in what is a competitive Plumpton race over the famous Gold Cup trip. With the Alner's continuing to turn out winners they have had a successful season that has at least provided some light relief after the accident that left Robert hospitalised for the majority of the campaign. This ultra consistent Gelding is testament to the yard and the hard work that Sue and stable hands have continued to put in. A return to today's trip on ground sure to suit will hopefully provide us with another double and a flying start to the racing week.
WON 5/2

I real gutsy performance from our selection as Present M'lord jumped and travelled his opponents into the ground. Great ride from Dayrl Jacob who got his gelding up by a cosy 1 3/4l. The Analyst grabbed the early 4/1, hope you did the same.

5 Apr 2008

Grand National Day E/W Double...

Aintree 14:15 - Kruguyrova E/W
2m, Novices Chase Grade 1 (Class 1) - Good

The Analyst was a bit against putting this selection up as a tip seeing as he has a real soft spot the favourite Tidal Bay(Won) However the odds of the selection have made him have a second look, and although the french mare does have a lot of ground to make up on Howard Johnson's charge I feel the track should play to the strengths of this speedy youngster. This combined with the weight allowance and also form with the Nicholls runner in France (a 37l beating) has swayed me in her favour.
UP 5/1

Maybe just a bridge to far for this tough, tough mare, however it was ultimately a couple of serious jumping errors that put pay to her chances. Despite the result, this is still a season to remember for Charlie Egerton's gutsy 5 year old, who will be back next year to win her races.

Aintree 15:25 - Forest Pennant E/W
3m, Handicap Hurdle (Listed) Class 1 - Good

With the yard back into a bit of nick after a treble yesterday this jumps at me as a typical improver for the step up in trip. A good staying on fourth at Sandown last time out reads quite well and off a good mark today with Ruby on board, all looks well for a big run.

WON 9/2

A typically confident ride from Ruby Walsh meant that his mount Forest Pennant ultimately ran out a comfortable winner and scored by an official 1 1/4l's. Well backed before the off, 9/2 still looks a massive return for a staying hurdler to keep an eye on!

Grand National;

The Analyst can't go before giving 'one' of his selections for the main race itself. That horse is Bewleys Berry (5Th) who - touch wood, jumps these fences for fun. Second in the Beecher at the start of the season and falling on the second circuit when leading this race last year. All you can say is fingers crossed!

BHB Order Of Merit;

And one more thing.....good luck once again to William Frewen who has his beloved Lough Derg out again to try and claw back some points in the Order of Merit. Not long to go now, lets hope he does it.

4 Apr 2008

Aintree Festival Day 2 Double...

Aintree 14:35 - Tazbar
3m, Novices Hurdle - Good

Having kept him fresh by not sending him to Cheltenham I think it's fair to say that Keith Reveley's runner has been laid out for this race. The horse has done nothing but improve all season and this is definitely the trip his trainer has thought he would excel at. With Aintree being a speed track the versatile Tazbar should be able to travel in the race before quickening in the home straight. He beat the likes of Whiteoak (who has upheld the form) and Kyber Kim over 2 miles at Doncaster and then gave Sound Accord a trashing by 12l at Haydock over 3 miles. His main rivals all had a hard race at the festival and The Analyst feels this is a stand out bet.

UP 13/8F

Backed from 15/8 to 13/8 before the off, Tazbar never really travelled in what turned into a muddling affair. Going no sort of gallop on the first circuit, our selection never got in a rythm and although staying on at the end, he needs a strong gallop to be seen to full affect.

Aintree 15:45 - Pak Jack
2m 5f, Topham Handicap Chase - Good to Soft, Good in Places

Well I certainly haven't made it easy for myself! 30 runners over the national fences where anything can happen but here goes. The selection is as consistent as they come and his record around the course over these fences is fantastic. Again another one that looks to have been laid out for the race and runs exceptionally well at this time of the year. Finished third in this race two years ago, second in the Foxhunters here last year and third in the Beecher Chase in November behind Mr Pointment and Bewleys Berry. Didn't get the trip then and the drop back to 2m 5f is what he wants. Racing off a low weight and with Choc Thornton on board if you perhaps didn't fancy the win option then you should definately get on e/w.
FELL 15/2

Travelling well, and looking well booked for at least a place Pak Jack came to grief at the infamous canal turn. Dissapointing end to what looked another promosing race for this course specialist, but luck is something only very few get over the demanding national fences.

3 Apr 2008

Aintree Festival Day 1 Double...

Aintree 14:00 – Inglis Drever
3m, Class 1 John Smith’s Hurdle – Good to Soft

Until The Analyst sees another horse, come out of the pack and trouble The Champion, The Drever will continue to carry our cash! Inglis Drever is my favourite horse in training, win, lose or draw he is high class and will eventually finish an illustrious career as the best staying hurdler of modern times. So why is he 11/8? Don’t ask questions… just get on!

3rd 13/8f

That's why he was 11/8! Not as effective around Aintree these days and will not run at the track again. Never really travelling like he did at cheltenham he came with a run 3 out but that flattened out. Possibly one more year to go with this fantastic horse, so lets enjoy him next year.

Taunton 14:55 – Menchikov
2m 7f, Class 4 Novices’ Chase – Good to Soft, Good in Places

The Paul Nicholls trained Leading Attraction is the 4/7 favourite in what looks a two horse race. However The Analyst was less than impressed by the geldings 11l win at Kempton, just 4 days ago. There are still plenty of question marks over his jumping and he is worth taking on today. Mick Fitzgerald is not at Aintree today and instead hops aboard the Nicky Henderson trained Mecnhikov. A decent 7th over 4 miles at the Cheltenham Festival (only beaten 14 ls) this represents a big drop in class over a trip and ground that are bound to suit.
WON 5/2

Fitzey knows best! With nothing up at Aintree for him, he bagged a double down south. Always travelling better than the Nicholls runner, Menchikov took the inside rail and jumped beautifully throughout and when the button was pressed quickened away nicely to score by 4l.

BHB Order Of Merit;

With Kauto Star reappearing in today’s Totesport Bowl Chase, Lough Derg will be up against it to regain the lead in the BHB Order of Merit. However William Frewen’s tough stayer is reportedly fine after a lack luster performance at the Festival and takes his chance on a track that’s sure to suit better. Regardless of what happens today one thing is for sure and that is that Kauto will not run again this year and The Derg will know exactly what he has to do to lift the title!! Good Luck to Connections!

2 Apr 2008

Wednesday Double...

Nottingham 15:10 - Sonny Red
5f, Class 3 Conditions Stakes - Soft, Good to Soft In Places

A good pipe opener at the Lincoln meeting should have put this bay colt spot on for today's contest. The winner, Aahayson is a very good yardstick with strong form in the past with the likes of Al Qasi and Sakhee's Secret. The main danger to the selection today could be Reverence, a top quality animal in his own right but the past tells us that he normally needs the run.

WON 4/5F

Richard Hannon's Sonny Red, stayed on strongly to land the odds in the class 3 conditions stakes at Nottingham. After making stylish headway 1f out the brave colt stayed on strongly under a typically strong Richard Hughes ride. The Analyst bagged an early 6/5, which looked massive when he returned a skinny 4/5F.

Catterick 15:20 - Puy d'Arnac
1m 5f, Class 4 Handicap - Good to Soft, Soft in Places

A close second last time out to the improving Red Wine makes the second selection and leg of the double very interesting, especially as the latter as gone in again since. Having been sent hurdling and with a win and fall to his name the french bred gelding is back on the level now. With a very low weight and the services on Robert Winston in the saddle expect a big run.
WON 5/2F

A silky, smooth performance from the Swinbank trained Puy d'Arnac landed the double today at a very healthy 5/2f. Pushed out in the final furlong, our selection ran on an easy winner by a cosy 2 1/4 lengths.

DOUBLE WON 6/1

1 Apr 2008

April Fool's Double...

Wetherby 14:40 - Compromiznotension
2m, Class 4 Novices' Hurdle - Soft, Good to Soft In Places

Unlucky not to win last time out this brown gelding ploughed through the last to give away his advantage, only to rally back and go down by a neck. With some useful form on offer with the likes of Marsam and Halla San, The Analyst expects Howard Johnson's charge to figure highly in today's race.
2ND 6/4

Sent into the lead from the start it was clear that Denis O'Regan wanted to stretch his rivals and see what they had got. However rounding the paddock turn the selection veered violently right and the jockey did well to keep him in the race. Compromiznotension soon got back to take control, however as they quickened down the home straight he just didn't find that extra gear and was left in a staying on again 2nd.

Southwell 16:45 - Benandonner
1m, Class 2 Handicap - Standard

It's not often that you'll find The Analyst taking a trip to the sand however with quite an attractive looking class 2 race on offer, why not! The selection ran a creditable 2ND in the Spring Mile at Doncaster behind the Peter Chapple-Hyam trained 'Don't Panic' who absolutely hacked up and looks and animal to follow! With good form on the all weather in the past and looking favourably treated at the weights today have a go at the son of Giant's Causeway.
WON 6/4
