Ascot 14:20 - Marodima
2m 1f, Grade 2 Novices Chase - Soft, Heavy in patches.
Marodima, is quickly establishing himself as one of the hottest novices about. Back to Back victories at Sandown and Warwick mean that David Johnson's 5 year old is still improving. He takes on Mahogany Blaze today still 3lb's better off than when beating him at Sandown last time. With conditions in his favour, he is taken to land the odds for the Nicholls/Murphy combination.
4th 11/10f
With a slow run race on very heavy ground the two market principals did themselves no favours. By taking each other on up front they set up the race perfectly for the heavily backed Wee Robbie. Nick Gifford's charge was exceptionally fit first time out and stayed on best of all to score by the shortest of margins.
Ascot 16:05 - Psychomodo
2m 3f, Novice Hurdle - Soft, Heavy in places.
Course and distance winner Psychomodo, is down 5 grades from his last appearance when falling in the Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown. Ascot would seem to suit this galloping type who will go in the ground. Powells stable continues to do well and his gelding looks the one to beat, with the eye catching jockey booking of Ruby Walsh.
UP 15/8f
Psychomodo was travelling best of all turning into the straight however was done no favours at all when Overclear jumped violently left and hampered him at the 2nd last. With all momentum lost Ruby Walsh eased down on the favourite and he was coaxed home to finish 8 lengths back in 6th.
