Huntingdon 14:10 - Noble Sham
3m, Class 4 Novice Handicap Chase - Heavy, soft in places
David Pipe is having his fair share of high profile winners at the moment, which is little surprise. However the shock is that the colours in the winning circle are not those of the champion owner, David Johnson. The Johnson team will be looking to put a poor Saturday at Ascot behind them and hope to make amends at Huntingdon today. Noble Sham was in the process of running a big race over course and distance last time, before making a mistake 3 out when upside for the lead. No doubt that The Pipe yard would have spent the last 28 days ironing out any jumping frailties their gelding may have had and he is The Analyst's selection to get off the mark over fences today.
Fell 4/1f
Is there an Echo in Here? Hello... "Hello"! Just as I thought! Now I could take the easy way out and copy the above preview and use as my review, but that's just not the Analyst way. Noble sham did no good for mine or David Johnson's strike rate by taking another tumble in the desperate ground at Huntingdon today. This was almost a carbon copy of his last appearance at the Cambridgeshire track where he jumped and travelled well before making one costly mistake with the race seemingly at his mercy. Noble Sham has tons of ability, and a win in a race like this is just a matter of time, however until he remembers this game is called "jump racing" he will continue to dirty his owners colours rather than raise them.
Huntingdon 15:40 - Obaki De Grissay
3m, Class 3 Handicap Chase - Heavy, soft in places
Henry Daly & Richard Johnson team up with Obaki De Grissay in the second staying chase of the afternoon. Just touched off at Chepstow last time when hanging right, the 6 year old is sure to prefer going this way round. The flat, galloping track in heavy conditions will also play into his hands, with many of his rivals not guaranteed to stay.
3rd 7/4f
Henry Daly, enjoyed success in Huntingdon's novice chase today, unfortunately for the Analyst it was the other of his two runners that was carrying the money. Obaki De Grissay failed to get up, finishing 10l 3rd to Tim Easterby's Jonny's Kick. A 14/1 winner summed up the day as the heavy ground took it's toll on the fancied runners and left the mud larks with, 50/1, 9/1, and two 7/1 success's.
Note Book;
The Analyst has an "Interest" in a exciting novice called Hitaaf, who goes in the 2nd race at Huntingdon Today. This well bread bay gelding is by The Cartier Three Year Old Champion Colt of 2006, Montjeu. Montjeu had an illustrious career on the flat, winning the Irish Derby, King George and the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe. Hitaaf is stepping down in trip after his maiden win over 2m 5f at Ludlow. He looks the class animal in race, however he is carrying a penalty for that last victory and is giving 18lbs to Alan Kings, Indicible who is sure to improve. Hitaaf is Arabic for "Cheer"... lets hope so!
