Tuesday Double...

An interesting days punting ahead, with high profile stables saddling short priced favourites all over the shop. The tricky thing is I expect most of them to land the odds. We all know that one in three favourites will win, the question is which one! The Analyst fancies, Numide (13:50 Folkestone) Haldibari (Taunton 13:40) & Big Fella Thanks (Taunton 15:10) all to go well, but at VERY short prices, I will look elsewhere in search of some value for today's double!

Taunton 14:40 - Robin De Sherwood
2m 3f, Class 4 Beginners' Chase - Soft, Good to Soft in Places

Paul Nicholls saddles another novice chaser, that looks as though it could be a nice type. Impressive on debut behind the seemingly useful Missis Potts and Nigel Twiston-Davies, hardened Battle Cry. The Champion Trainer always claims that his charges improve for the run, and with today's extra 3 furlongs our selection should take all the beating.
1st 6/5f

The Analyst's selection survived a mistake at the 3rd last to stay on gamely and deny the Emma Lavelle trained Marcus by 1 & 1/4l. The front two were the class in the field and pulled 20l clear of the third. The Champion trainer and successful day at Taunton, landing a very nice treble.

Taunton 16:10 - Roll Along
2m 3f, Class 3 Handicap Chase - Soft, Good to Soft in Places

A formidable hurdler as a novice, Carl Llewellyn's Roll Along looks to stamp the same amount of authority on his rivals over fences at Taunton today. Soft ground is ideal for this selection who likes to get his toe in and with more improvement expected, he is taken to get the better of The Hairy Lemon, who wears blinkers for the first time.
2nd 7/4f

I must have watched this race back 20 times, and I still cant work out how and why I'm not sat here celebrating another double?!? Jumping the last big and bold Roll Along landed full of running and looked as though he would gallop away from The Hairy Lemon. However Choc Thornton's mount who had been scrubbed along from some way out, found more when it counted to get up by a short head. Timmy Murphy is now 23 rides without a win, and perhaps his lack confidence told in a tight finish.
